Backups and Restore Policy

Your website care plan includes a robust backup and restore system designed specifically for custom coded websites. Because your site is built from the ground up without a CMS, I’m able to store, manage, and restore full versions of your site in ways that typical platforms cannot.

How Backups Work

Your website is backed up in three separate ways to ensure maximum reliability and long term safety:

• Local Backup: I keep a copy of your site directly on my secure device for quick access and maintenance work.

• Cloud Backup: A version of your website is stored on a private cloud repository, such as GitHub. This includes rollback functionality, meaning I can easily revert your site to a previous version if needed.

• Physical Backup: An additional copy of your website files is stored on an external hard drive as a physical safeguard in case of any digital failure.

Because your website is fully custom coded, its files can be stored and restored in their original form. Unlike CMS based sites that depend on plugins or databases that can become corrupted, custom code allows for complete, reliable backups that are easy to verify and restore.

Security and Reliability

Custom coded websites are inherently more secure than CMS platforms like WordPress because they do not rely on third party plugins or open source systems that hackers often target. While the chances of a hack or breach are extremely low, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Regular backups ensure that, in the rare event of an unexpected issue, your website can be restored quickly and completely.

Restore Policy

I retain three months of backups at all times to make sure we can roll your site back if necessary. The schedule includes:

• A copy from approximately 30 days ago

• A copy from approximately 60 days ago

• A copy from approximately 90 days ago

If your site ever experiences an issue such as an accidental deletion, a code conflict, or a security breach, I can restore it from one of these recent versions.

Here is what you can expect:

• Quick Action: I review and begin the restore process as soon as a problem is reported.

• Selective Rollback: I choose the most recent stable version to minimize data loss and downtime.

• Complete Restoration: The entire site is restored exactly as it was at the time of that backup.
